Qualifications:
This is a senior clerical position with responsibility for providing work direction, as delegated by the manager. Knowledge of computer systems and various applications is essential as well as a solid background in payroll principles. This role will maintain all data entered into the Payroll system. Assure accurate payout and reporting of all employee compensation. Assist with and test software changes as it relates to the gross to net calculation and software end-users. Execute new payroll
- Collect and analyze payroll data
- Open and process regular payrolls
- Process off-cycle payrolls for special pays
- Calculate partial payments for mid-cycle new hires, and separations
- Maintain the following schedules for accurate data entry -Direct Pays -Pay on Demand -Severance/Salary Continuance payments -Maternity LOA (Baby Bonding Pay) -Retro pay
- Format spreadsheets for imports into ADP, Timekeeper, CFE
- Audit Engagement (Daily Hires) data keyed to the system for accuracy
- Analyze post payroll data for anomalies
- Modify employee pay data as needed
- Prepare payroll funding information for manager review
- Field inquires from employees
- Communicate daily occurrences with team members and counter-parts
- Print Ad-Hoc reports as needed
- Balance payroll data to source documents for manager sign-off
- File all payroll source documents
- Archive payroll documents as warranted
- Gather documents for auditors when necessary
- Solutionalize payroll issues
- Attend to other administrative duties as needed

The Senior Payroll Manager is responsible for the complete in-house payroll processes. The ideal candidates is responsible for ensuring payroll processing and functions comply with all federal and state regulatory requirements. Develops and manages the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for payroll. Oversees the calculation of wages, payments and deductions to ensure compliance with organizational pay programs and federal and state regulations. Ensures that payments and government reports are disbursed timely and accurately. Establishes policies and procedures for the payroll function.
Responsible for the management and coordination of all payroll functions, including processing payrolls and calculating and remitting federal and state taxes in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with organizational programs, generally accepted accounting principals and all state and federal regulations.
Develops and maintains appropriate internal controls and procedures for all payroll activities.
Continuously monitors procedures and payments for compliance, oversees audits, and identifies areas for improvement and implements changes as needed.
Ensures accounting distribution and preparation of deductions maintaining proper governmental reporting and compliance.
Builds cross-functional relationships to maintain active and appropriate communication with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting and other stakeholders as needed.
Reviews and oversees additions and changes to computerized payroll system. Responsible for system upgrade testing and interfaces with G/L system and outside providers of services.
Develops and mentor payroll staff, monitor job performance and offer frequent feedback, address issues and provide counseling as needed.
Maintains current knowledge of organizational pay practices, payroll administration, California labor laws and federal regulations.
Identifies staff's training needs and implements plans to ensure payroll staff receives necessary tools and education to maintain payroll administration knowledge and ensure compliance with organizational pay practices, California labor laws and federal regulations.
Ensures the departmental standards meet regulatory requirements.
Required: Lawson Payroll experience is a must.
A strong understating of California labor law. Computer experience (Excel, Word, 10 key), excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of automated payroll systems and interfaces with G/L systems.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in payroll. Preferred: Kronos time & attendance

DESCRIPTION:
- Directs all facets of the daily operations of the payroll department functions.
- Develops, maintains, updates and communicates organization-wide payroll policies and processes regarding earnings, deductions, time keeping as well as government compliance reporting.
- Oversees the development, maintenance and implementation of automated payroll as well as time and attendance systems.
- Ensures that systems and processes correctly compute and record time, earnings, employee benefits, special deductions, mandated benefits, taxes, garnishments and other items that affect net pay and/or company liability.
- Manages the taxing structure and reporting process.
- Ensures proper set-up and maintenance of state and local tax entities as well as tax and unemployment liability accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education or experience equivalent to a four year college degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
- At least ten years of progressive payroll experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Successful track record in building and retaining high performing payroll teams, as well as a strong understanding of how to integrate systems and build efficient payroll processes.
- Experience managing complex, multi-state payroll on a national scale that includes a diverse array of pay methodologies and programs for over 10,000 employees.
