California, Paid Family Leave, expanded

Effective 7-1-14, the paid family leave (PFL) program is expanded to include time off to care for a seriously ill grandparent, sibling, or parent-in-law. Currently, the PFL program provides up to six weeks of wage replacement benefits to employees who take time off from work to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, parent, domestic partner, or for the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
