‘Holiday Error’ Causes Incorrect Failure-to-Deposit Notices

The IRS has announced that, due to a programming error that did not account for the Memorial Day holiday, some employment tax filers were sent incorrect failure-to-deposit notices. The notices were sent to many next-day depositors who made deposits on May 31 and semiweekly depositors who made deposits on June 2. The IRS advises that impacted taxpayer accounts will be corrected and no response by employers is necessary.
